| For men who like to get out for a few rounds of golf, we offer the St. George's Men's Duffer's Club! There are only 2 criteria for membership - first - having an e-mail address (all communication is via e-mail), and second - is to be a male with a desire to have fun playing golf! (The ladies of the church have their own exclusive activities).
Although the primary affiliation is St. George's, I encourage you to invite your men friends to join the club. Joining couldn’t be simpler, just send an e-mail to stgeorgesduffers@hotmail.com and you will become a member...no fees, no cost, no obligation! Can't get a better deal than this! The only thing simpler is losing golf balls. |
The club works like this:
- All members are sent an e-mail approximately one week in advance of the date for the next outing.
- Those who plan to play respond via e-mail by the requested deadline (typically the evening 3 days before the golf day).
- An email is sent later that evening to all players indicating the “T” off times. You will also be advised who else is playing.
- At the golf club, the Tee times are usually listed under “Johnson”. The players arrive and pay their green fees.
We play 18 holes in the afternoon. The dates are generally split between Sunday, or Friday, and occasionally Wednesday.
We use Golfnorth Facilities, typically Foxwood, Brookfield, Conestoga and Dundee. Golfnorth has reasonable green fees and will permit a number of foursomes to be booked a week in advance, and then cancel what is not needed the day before. That booking/cancelling feature makes the whole thing possible.
Sunday Tee times are 2:00 pm or later, to allow time to get to the course after church and also to take advantage of twilight rates. |
