Lay Administrant
What Is A Lay Administrant?
A Lay Administrant is a person who is licensed to administer the blessed wafer and wine during Holy Communion. One or more Lay Administrants serve at most of our Holy Eucharist services at St. George's.
What Does A Lay Administrant Do?
The Lay Administrant may perform his/her duties within the Church, or take the blessed Sacraments to nursing homes etc. or to those unable to attend Church, (usually because of poor health), but who are still in their own home. The Sacraments may be administered without a Priest being present provided they have been blessed by a Priest.
How Do I Become A Lay Administrant?
A prospective Lay Administrant is chosen by the Priest from interested members of the congregation, and then is trained. After training, the Priest will issue a license. The license is valid for the Lay Administrant's life time.
If you would be interested in finding out more about this role in our parish, please contact the Rector.
Altar Guild
St. George's of Forest Hill Altar Guild sets the church up for all the services of worship. This includes regular Sunday and mid-week services as well as services of baptisms, weddings and funerals. We currently have approximately thirty members split across five teams with which rotate on a regular basis.
Our ministry is the giving of our time and we share the busy times in the church service calendar such as Easter and Christmas. We have lots of fellowship during our weekly schedule as we look after the colour rotations for the church calendar, polish the brass, trim the wicks on the candles and as we say, see the church from the front.
If you would like to find our what a "corporal" is and what goes on to help and make it "all come together" please contact MaryLynn Forrest.
Altar Servers Guild
St. George's is blessed to have a group of dedicated individuals who are members of the Altar Servers Guild. Our duties consist of being part of the Sunday Worship Services and in assisting the Priest during the services. In addition we also assist during various services throughout the year such as Ash Wednesday, Easter Vigil, Christmas Eve, Weddings, Funerals etc.
We are always looking for new members to join our group.
If you are a youth 12 years of age or older, or an adult and are interested in joining our group for either the 8:15 am or the 10:00 am Sunday Services, please contact the Church office to be put in contact with George Mudry. All training is provided as Acolyte, Crucifer and Altar Server either on an individual or group basis. We are also here to answer any questions you may have.
