Confirmation
The sacrament of Confirmation is an important rite of passage in the Anglican Church. It is the point at which baptized youth decide to take on the vows of their Baptism for themselves. It is an acknowledgement by the church that they have grown and matured in their faith to the point where they are now prepared to grow beyond the basics of the faith, into mature Christianity.
The usual pattern of Confirmation preparation at St. George's, is that classes are held once monthly on a Sunday following the principle service, beginning in September. The Bishop comes for the Laying on of Hands in the late spring. Our congregation takes this sacrament very seriously, and hopes that parents and candidates will not rush into this sacrament, but rather wait until they are ready for making an adult commitment. We find that the age of 15-18 is the best time for this.
If you or your child is interested in Confirmation, contact the parish office to be put in touch with the Rector.
