YOUTH MINISTRY LEADER
St. George's of Forest Hill is a dynamic, thriving, Christ-based community, where all are welcomed as part of a loving, caring parish family. We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, outgoing, self-motivated and team-oriented person as a Youth Ministry Leader to develop and nurture short/long term development among our young people (grades 7-12).
Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate multiple, varied and engaging opportunities for St. George's young people
- Work collaboratively with church leaders and parishioners in establishing new opportunities for continued faith formation of St. George's young people
- Develop initiatives that support or extend the current Sunday School Programme (pre-grade 7)
- Develop, support and respond to the needs and interests of St. George's young people
- Provide a role model by demonstrating a strong faith and ability to relate the Anglican faith to daily life.
- Participate in St. George's short and long-term planning, as appropriate
- Provide regular and ongoing updates to the congregation, through the rector, in both verbal and written format
- Meet regularly with Rector (biweekly), Christian Education Committee (monthly), and others as may be required.
Background:
- Demonstrated success in leading, engaging, working and identifying with young people/adults in various settings
- Familiarity with the Anglican Church of Canada and its structures, norms, standards and values and commitment to increase knowledge of same
- Demonstrated flexibility and sensitivity/insight with excellent people skills and a compassionate understanding of modern family life
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, to be a self-starter and have excellent time-management skills.
Terms of Employment:
- Starting date: December 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011
- Remuneration: $ 600/month
- Part-time: 30 hours/month
