"Feeding 5,000 - Canstruction Event" Our Youth Group's "Feeding 5,000" Campaign to raise food and money for the food bank this year has taken an exciting twist. As a result of the Feeding 5000 initiative, our Youth Group has been invited to join the "Canstruction" event taking place at Conestoga Mall this week. This is a competition that happens internationally and our group was the first group of teens ever to participate in this area. The Youth Group is competing against engineering firms and student groups from the schools of architecture etc. Our Canadian Flag design was simple so we didn't expect to win any of the technical awards - but it took 5 hours to assemble with 12 youth involved and consists of 2200 cans of food! We are in the running to win the People's Choice Award, though, which is based on donations made at the mall or online in support of our build. If you are at the mall you can donate there, or you can go online and donate, on behalf of our entry. Online donations also give you a tax receipt. Entries close Saturday evening. Please try and support our group, if you can - we would love to see our Youth Group kids win at the award ceremony on Sunday. We are very proud and impressed by what they've done!!
