Music Director - Robert Aszmies
Robert grew up in St Thomas, Ontario and started piano lessons at age 5. He completed his Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and Composition at Wilfrid Laurier University in 1997 and Masters of Music Composition at the University of Alberta in 2000. Robert brings a wide range of church musical experience as he has been active musically with several denominations including the Salvation Army, Anglican, Lutheran, Pentecostal and Presbyterian churches.
He is a classically trained pianist who holds the classics "very close to my heart" but who also has a passion for jazz and gospel. Robert's favourite composer is J. S. Bach, while his favourite jazz pianists are Bill Evans and Keith Jarrett and his favourite singer Tony Bennett. Well rounded he is also a serious movie buff.
Organist - John Shaw
I graduated from Waterloo Lutheran University in 1965 in Honours History. I then pursued my Bachelor of Education at the Ontario College of Education with a major in history and a minor in both vocal and instrumental music. I have taught history/world religions/economics/music at Waterloo Collegiate for the past 42 years.
I have played the organ at St. George's for the Senior Choir for almost 38 years and been associated with the Junior Choir for over a decade. I organized our Intermediate Choir eight years ago.
